My Story
When I was quite young, just 16 years of age, my grandfather was diagnosed with a Coronary Artery Atherosclerotic Disease. He used to experience frequent chest pain and shortness of breath. When he consulted a Doctor , he prescribed a lot of tests. Later he was advised an Angiography to assess the state of his coronary arteries. Within 10 minutes of the start of the angiography, the Doctor came out and advised stenting procedure in two arteries, to open the blockages of his heart. My father was reluctant to go for the surgical procedure but we were made to understand that his condition was very critical and he might not survive for long, if the stenting was not done. We were also assured that all his symptoms would resolve and he could lead a normal life after the surgical procedure. We had no option but to give consent for the stenting. Those were the times when there was little awareness about Mediclaim and Health Insurance. My grandfather was not covered by insurance and the cost of the surgery was too high. It was a difficult time for my father to arrange the amount in a short span of one hour. Somehow he managed and the stenting was done.
However within a week after discharge from hospital, my grandfather again started complaining of chest pain, fatigue and shortness of breath. We made several visits to the same cardiologist who would prescribe one or the other medicines but to no benefit. The condition of my grandfather kept on deteriorating and finally we took him to AIIMS. After a careful analysis of his condition and repeating the angiography procedure, the Doctor told us that there were numerous blockages in his coronary arteries and he would need a bypass surgery. The previous stenting had done no good to him and he was immediately operated upon. After the bypass surgery the condition of my grandfather improved and most of the symptoms were relieved.
However, as destiny has planned, he suffered a stroke within an year of the cardiac surgery and died following a few days hospitalization. The doctors told us that there was a blockage in the arteries of his brain that has caused the stroke.
Why Me
At that point of time, being a youngster studying in school, I could not understand the problem of my grandfather. But fortunately I went on to become a very successful Doctor myself and now I understand all the physiology behind the disease of my grandfather. I could not save him at that time, but I strive to save many more like him, who are going through the same physiology of atherosclerosis disease, consequent symptoms and subsequent fatalities.
There are physiological ways and medicines that cause reversal of atherosclerotic disease and offer the gift of Healthy Life. The problem is that most healthcare professionals are busy treating the symptoms as they develop, and prefer not to treat the cause. This may be because of an oversight, scarcity of time to properly evaluate the patient, or because of the commercial interest in surgical costs.

Atherosclerosis starts as early as 20 years of age and with sedentary lifestyle and stressful work culture, most youth beyond 40 must assess their state of atherosclerosis and consequent health status. This disease aggravates with consumption of alcohol, smoking, excess non vegetarian diet, high fat diet and sweets. The probability and extent of disease rises sharply with genetic predisposition (if anyone in your immediate family has it) and event of concurrent diabetes or hypertension or liver diseases.
