Are You Healthy ?
We routinely live with a misconception that all is well within us. We presume we are fit and healthy. However, it has been seen that the modern lifestyle, exercise and dietary habits, pollution and food adulterants, physical and mental stress; all these are leading to premature health concerns in all people, whatsoever be the region, sex or race.
I have seen in my practice, patients as young as 31 years having Acute Coronary Syndrome and sudden death due to Myocardial Infarction. In simple terms you can say sudden death due to Heart Attack. What is more concerning is that we all think we are medically fit and very few of us go for proactive health screening, especially for cardiac issues, which is the single largest cause of untimely dealth in India, attributing to almost 28% of all death due to a medical condition.
I advise you to click on all the links below and read thoroughy to update your knowledge & belief.
The concept of healthy living is rarely practised and we live in a world of illusions about our physical and medical fitness. We must understand that symptoms are the threshold of diseases. Our body has a sublime physiology. It tries to protect & heal itself and manages the disease to the extent possible. However, when the disease burden surpasses the resistance levels, symptoms start showing up. We invariably wait for the symptoms and presume that the disease has just started. Many of us still do not take any action to diagnose & treat the cause, but simply self medicate on incidences of excessive symptoms.
We must understand that certain diseases, especially related to our Cardio-Vascular System, Kidneys, Liver and Brain are sometimes irreversible, if left untreated. And since these are primarily the most important organs of the body, we are sometimes deprived of even smaller pleasures of life due to negligence of our health in the early years.
Say for example, if someone got a heart disease he may not be able to take longer flights, go uphill, take adventurous rides, eat his favorite food, hang around dancing & partying as his peers, etc. If someone suffers with stroke, he may be paralysed or not able to move his limbs or talk normally. In most cases of heart disease, there is concurrent brain and kidney disease, as explained elsewhere on this website . I have repeatedly seen patients of heart diseases having cognitive issues that lead to loss of memory, loss of limb movements, anxiety, insomnia, logorrhea, aphasia etc which makes the life of the patient and also that of the attendants very difficult.
The latest researches show that our body has a Hepato-Renal-Cardio Axis. That means , if any of the three organs viz. kidney, heart or liver is diseased, the other two get diseased in due course of time, causing multicentered and multiorgan disease, leading to complex medical conditions that are difficult to treat.
